Ayinger: Oktober Fest-Märzen E-mail

Again, unfortunately, I am not prepared to review this very fine beer. It should suffice to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this beer and it matched very well with a dish of tortellini in a sun dried tomato cream sauce. It's color was rich, it's flavor solid with a touch of sweetness on the tongue with minimal after taste. An excellent brew. If you have it available, give it a try.

As a heads up, I had this beer served from a keg. In my humble opinion and as I've talked on the show, I feel kegs and properly cleaned taps can dramatically enhance a beer's flavor. While not saying this is the case here, I think it's important to mention whether or not the sample was from a bottle or a keg.

It's good to find a new local watering hole with some different beers on tap. I'll be frequenting that place as they change their beer and wine menus with regularity.

As an Octoberfest brew, this Ayinger does a wonderful job. Not too heavy and not too sweet, yet it maintained a wonderful body throughout the entire meal/drinking experience. Decent levels of carbonation existed from beginning to end. Initially a large white head was on the beer at the time of serving.

If you can still find this one on tap, go for it! Hopefully, we'll get to do a formal review either later in the week, or next year.
