While dining with a friend at an Italian restaurant, we enjoyed this bottle of wine. From the famed Napa region in California, Turnbull usually turns out great wines. This 2003 merlot was solid but not amazing, as I'm accustomed to.
Over the years I've had the pleasure of consuming may Turnbull wines. They are a solid winery in the Oakville area of Napa. Great Cabs. I've always been impressed with their Merlot as well, but this one left me wanting a little more. It just seemed a little flat. I'll not offend, by trying to describe the flavors, but I'm used to a far more complex offering from Turnbull, even in their merlot efforts. Perhaps it was the food, or the mood, or something, but I just find this vintage a little below their standards.
