Yards Brewing Company is a fine brewery in the Philadelphia area. Spending as much time as I do here, it's often that I enjoy some of their products. Who doesn't like a fresh, local brewed beer.
This review entails a single bottle of the Yards Brewing Company's Philadelhpia Pale Ale. It's a beer I had many times. Check out the review below.
Yards has been brewing beer in the East Coast region for quite some time. The Philadelphia Pale currently has my attention on this cloudy March afternoon.
Color (possible 5 points) - 4 - With a deep golden color with a bit of cloudiness, you can easily see why this beer is so inviting.
Smell (possible 5 points) - 3 - This beer presents a very hoppy aroma. For hop lovers out there it's a solid indication of what's to come.
Taste (possible 10 points) - 5 - From a personal perspective, this beer is over hoppy for me. From past reports and the podcasts, folk will know that I'm not a fan of hoppy beers. Some people, however, find them refreshing and light. It's just not my taste.
Mouthfeel (possible 5 points) - 4 - Great level of carbination was maintained throughout the glass, not too much, not too little.
Drinkability (possible 10 points) - 6 - Again the hoppiness of this beer is a little over the top for me, but certainly not to the offensive level. I'll drink it if it's in front of me, but would likely not run out to purchase it if I ran out.
A very respectable 22 out of 35 points for this beer. It will likely score higher for those who like a hoppy beer. If that's the case, this beer is a solid ale and one that should be tried.
Recommended if you like a hoppy beer.
